Dr. Kim Elcheshen obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg. She then graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Waterloo in 1998. After graduating, she practised in Brandon for two years. Born and raised in southeast Winnipeg, Dr. Kim returned to her roots to start a new optometry practice, 20/20 Eye Care with Dr. Don Porter in 2000. Through the years, she has also practiced as an associate for offices in Selkirk and Thompson.

Dr. Kim has always been very involved with her professional association, having served as President of the Manitoba Association of Optometrists from 2004-2006. She has also chaired and served on several committees such as Membership Services, Government Relations, Continuing Education, and Public Relations Committees. She currently holds a position on the Awards committee.

Dr. Kim especially enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She volunteers for as many of her children’s activities as possible, including serving on the preschool board. She has always been active in sport and currently helps coach her daughter’s ringette team.

Dr. Kim enjoys providing optometric services to patients of all ages and is fluent in French.

Dr. Gillian Robinson joined 20/20 Eye Care as an Associate in 2008 and became a Partner in 2015. Earlier in her career she also practiced as an Associate for offices in Winnipeg, Swan River and Thompson. She obtained her Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba and completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. Dr. Gillian is currently active in various committee and volunteer roles for the Manitoba Association of Optometrists, and is an Alumni Ambassador and Student Mentor for the Illinois College of Optometry.

While in Optometry School in Chicago, Dr. Gillian volunteered with the Gift of Sight Program to perform vision screenings on students in Chicago Public Schools, and with Special Olympics Illinois to deliver eye care to athletes from around the state. She also travelled to Honduras for an eye care mission trip with Volunteers in Optometric Services to Humanity. Currently Dr. Gillian volunteers at the Saul Sair Health Centre at Siloam Mission in Winnipeg.

In her spare time she enjoys being active, getting outdoors, and spending time with her husband. She is an avid cyclist, runner and soccer player. Dr. Gillian enjoys providing optometric services to patients of all ages and speaks French.

Dr. Kaeleigh Carrick was born and raised in Winnipeg and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Manitoba in 2013. She continued her education at the University of Waterloo where she completed her Doctorate of Optometry degree in 2017, graduating on the Dean’s Honours list. She also participated on the Sports Vision Committee and did vision screening tests for Varsity athletes. She thoroughly enjoyed her experience in Waterloo and created many life long friendships there.

In her last year at Waterloo she completed her ocular disease and therapeutics rotation at a Veteran’s Affairs hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.

In her spare time Dr. Carrick enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves to be active and regularly goes to the gym and plays various sports. She also travels as much as she can and has already visited Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Turks and Caicos, Mayan Riviera, Jamaica, Greece, Austria, Germany, France, Costa Rica, Thailand, Japan, China and various parts of North America. She also participated in an Optometry mission trip to Peru to perform free eye exams and provide glasses. She plans to continue travelling and hopes that she can participate in more Optometry mission trips in the future.
